Flat clusters of small, creamy white flowers in spring; flowers have an unpleasant scent; bright red fruit in autumn and winter; fall color is mild orange-red.
Full sun; moist, well-drained soil, but tolerant of drought; pH adaptable.
This species is less susceptible to the rust diseases that disfigure other hawthorns.
