Features

Broad habit is interesting in all seasons; deeply furrowed bark (becomes more prominent as the tree ages).

Culture

Full sun; moist, well drained soils, but tolerates dryness; tolerant of alkaline sites.

Notes

This tree has a wide spreading root system. This, coupled with the width of the crown, keeps it from being used streetside; male and female flowers are on separate trees; female trees produce small fruit that can be a minor litter problem.
