Drooping clusters of small, white, fragrant, bell-like flowers in spring; shiny, evergreen leaves with new leaves emerging reddish or bronze then turning dark green; in winter, dormant flower buds have a reddish color.
Partial shade; moist, well-drained soils best; prefers slightly acid soil.
Exposure to wind and winter sun can lead to leaf scorch.
